A number of people ask about the possibility of more Bible Study within the congregation. We already have the regular group that meets at 37 Underhill, but that may not be appropriate for all.
I have recently discovered a new resource 'Reading the Bible - Approaching and Understanding Scripture', which I think looks good. It approaches scripture from a number of different angles, with the aim of giving a variety of tools to deepen our understanding of the rich diversity of the Bible.
Looking at my diary I have six regular evenings that I can set aside for a group, though if this regular evening is not suitable we can change it for a less regular one (ie not every fourth Wednesday). I propose, therefore, to book for the time being, Wednesdays at 7.30 pm at the Manse on the following dates: 26 September, 24 October, 28 November, 23 January, 27 February, and 26 March (in Easter week!). Please let me know if you would to attend. If you cannot attend on Wednesday evenings and would like an alternate, let me know and we will have a look at dates.
I hope this will be an opportunity together to look at the Bible in a new way!

Again, from time to time I am asked for more opportunity to talk together about our faith.
This week a new resource has dropped onto my desk from the URC - 'Nature, Faith and Order'. There are five sessions, based on the Nature, Faith and Order of the United Reformed Church. The course is designed for small groups - those contemplating membership, or those who would simply like to deepen their understanding of our faith - suitable for anyone wishing to spend time.
Initially I suggest that we meet at the Manse at 7.30 pm on Thursday 13 September, and on that occasion we will look at dates for the future. Please let me know if you would like to join the group and hope to attend. If you like the idea but cannot manage that date, then do tell me.
For those for whom evening meetings are not practical we could try to arrange day time sessions. Do let me know if this applies to you!
